ACHWIT events are professional spaces for policy dialogue, learning and collaboration. Every participant, speaker, sponsor, staff member and volunteer is expected to help maintain an environment that is respectful, inclusive and free from harassment.
Expected behaviour
Participants are expected to:
- Treat others with dignity, regardless of role, nationality, gender, disability, religion, age or affiliation
- Engage in debate that is rigorous and evidence-based without personal attacks
- Follow venue, security and health guidance issued by organisers
- Respect confidentiality of closed sessions and attribution rules for Chatham House or similar formats when announced
- Use credentials and badges only as issued; do not share QR codes
Unacceptable behaviour
Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, unwanted sexual attention, disruption of sessions, recording without permission where prohibited, and any form of violence or threats are not tolerated. Intoxication that endangers others or disrupts the programme may result in removal.
Reporting
Report concerns to the onsite help desk, a member of the ACHWIT secretariat, or email info@achwit.org with “Code of conduct” in the subject line. Reports will be handled as confidentially as practical while allowing a fair response.
Response
ACHWIT may warn, re-seat, remove from sessions, revoke credentials, cancel registration without refund in serious cases, and/or escalate to venue security or authorities. Sponsors and partners are held to the same standard.
Online and hybrid participation
Virtual attendees must use their registered identity, avoid sharing meeting links publicly, and follow the same respect standards in chat and video.
Acknowledgement
Completing registration or entering an ACHWIT venue constitutes acknowledgement of this Code of conduct.
